Last week in Vadim, WTF! part 3, I spoke about consistency. Well, in some areas I want to improve—like Math, ML, Comedy, and Marketing—I lack consistency. So I’m going to break them into smaller chunks.
Small is better than none
I used to have this approach: either I do it all, or I don’t do it at all. That was stupid. These days, I mostly don’t think like that anymore, but occasionally I still regress into it.
Now, I prefer the habit to be small—but consistent.
I’ve been struggling to stay consistent with the new habits I mentioned above. I enjoy them, but I haven’t had a streak longer than a few days, which is not good. So this week’s lesson comes to you in smaller sizes.
I realized that if I want a real shot at consistency, I need to remove as many obstacles as possible. The first one that comes to mind is making the habits smaller.
The Takeaway
If you’re struggling with habit consistency, make the habits smaller. For this coming week, instead of trying to read 20 pages a day, I’m going to aim for 10. Instead of spending 30 minutes on a new habit, I’m going to spend 15.
The goal isn’t to perfect it—it’s to establish a system. But I still remember last week’s lesson about urgency: move like your life depends on it. We’re all working on borrowed time. So move your ASS!
